Lake Washington Custom Kitchen Design and Cabinets
Domicile’s custom kitchen design and cabinet services are highlighted in this beautiful home situated facing Lake Washington. Even with it’s northward exposure there is a substantial amount of light entering the rooms. The dark, rich cabinet finishes were chosen to avoid the glare of the reflected light on the water. It is also a nice contrast with the washed walnut floors.
In the kitchen the soft limestone to the ceiling at the range helps to anchor the free hanging wall cabinets. Open bookshelves break the monotony of the wall to wall, floor to ceiling storage on the opposite wall. This also acts as a transition from the kitchen to the adjacent family room.
Behind the wall of the main kitchen sits the butler’s pantry. The majority of the room is for food storage but this particular wall serves many purposes. For starters, the coffeemaker and speed oven don’t clutter the look of the adjacent kitchen yet they’re just a couple steps out of the main room. Coffee supplies are stored in the adjacent cabinet and there is a cup warmer below the ovens. There is also a resting space for the family dog. He will be close enough to the family in a poshly designed, wire enclosed area to not feel isolated and alone.
One of the requirements of the client was to store a magle so they could press linen in the laundry and not have to take it elsewhere. This required some custom closet design magic for storage, shelving for linen, and utility storage.
